Sampling techniques include both probability and non-probability. Questionnaires were more relevant in collecting data from a relatively large sample through written responses. Findings showed that majority of the respondents representing 54.1% believed that they were motivated with the working environment condition at Rorya District Secondary Schools. From the field survey, the results showed that 45.9% of the respondents disagreed to receive financial support from local government when they were in difficult situation and 34.7% agreed to receive financial support when they were in difficult situation. It was indicated that majority of the employees were motivated when well recognized. This result showed that majority of the employees was neutral regarding relationship that they have with superior. This means that the service should find solution to this problem by reducing the power distance between the superiors and their subordinates. The conclusion of the study is that recognition had positive effect to the employee performance. Reward was among the major factors that increased employee performance and productivity. Effect of promotion on employees performance was very minimal. There was positive effect of benefits on employee’s performance especially with salary payment.. Therefore, the recommended that management staff should improve employee motivation aspects on teachers in schools. They should to structure motivations tools so as to match with the nature of the work done by the employee and make them enjoy.

ABSTRACT

The increased level of competition resulting from globalization has forced project managers to put in place strategies of remaining sustainable. All projects including the small holder dairy farming one’s have not been left behind in pursuit of remaining sustainable with this increased level of competition. Despite the significant role of Total Quality Management (TQM) in sustainability of projects, little efforts have been made to apply TQM principles among small scale dairy farming projects. This has resulted into low quality of dairy products offered to customers that adversely affects their health. The main objective of the study was to establish the effect of TQM on sustainability of small holder dairy farming projects in Kajiado District. The specific objectives of the study were determining effect of leadership, people management, process management, customer focus and information and communication on the sustainability of small holder dairy farming projects in Kajiado County, Kenya. The study was anchored on the TQM Theory, Resource-Based View Theory and the Theory of Constraints. The study adopted a descriptive design and a total of 125 senior and middle level managers were targeted. The study used a census and thus the sample size was 125 respondents. The study collected primary data with the help on questionnaires. The collected data was analyzed using means, standard deviations and regression analysis. Presentation of findings was achieved via utilization of Figures and Tables. The study established that leadership and customer focus have significant effect on sustainability of small holder dairy farming projects. Likewise, managing people and processes have insignificant effect on small holder dairy farming projects. The study concludes that leadership and customer focus are significant TQM components influencing sustainability of small holder dairy projects. The study recommends that dairy farmers in Kenya should periodically analyze sustainability using computer systems for the sectional heads to make decision. All stakeholders in the dairy farming activity should highly observe ethics and integrity is observed when dealing with each other. Customer complaints should be used as an approach of improving current processes in the producer dairy group. Dairies should visit customers after offering the financial services. The dairy unit quality strategy should be communicated to all farmers quickly due to the use of ICT .

ABSTRACT

Sustainable entrepreneurship is used to address issues of social and environmental sustainability and to transform them into business opportunities through the use of sustainable innovations. In Kenya, the clearing and forwarding sector is dominated by large firms such as Bollore, Khuene, and Document Handling Limited (DHL), while SMEs account for 70% of the market. The industry contributes between 5% and 10% of Kenya's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Moreover, there are 764 clearing and Forwarding(C&F) firms operating in Kenya that serves in more than 25 million tons of goods through logistic practices. Statistics also show that the importance of C&F firms in the economy and production of Kenya require more attention. Owing to the importance that C&F sector play in logistic activities, lack of sustainable entrepreneurship in the sector will result to dwindling of the economy and low employment opportunities. The current study aimed to investigate the effect of innovative entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial managerial support on performance of clearing and forwarding firms. The research design for this study was descriptive. The objective population of the study was 1128 management staff employed by clearing and forwarding companies in the Metropolitan of Nairobi. In the study, 375 respondents from a total 1128 population were selected using stratified samples. The study investigated original data gathered through a survey. The study included support for research to help the respondents receive the questionnaire. SPSS was used for quantitative data collection and code. Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to analyze inferential data (multiple regression analysis). The information was provided in tables and figures while the interpretation was expressed in text. In short, the study showed that factors affecting the performance of clearing and forwarding companies in Kenya had an impact. Each element showed an important positive link with and impact on C&F companies' performance. The study demonstrated that the success of clearing and forwarding enterprises in Kenya is significantly influenced by innovative entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial managerial support. The study contributes to the corpus of knowledge in three ways: first, by providing conceptual clarity on the connection between a sustainable company and the performance of clearing and transportation businesses. Secondly, by providing clarity regarding managers' dispositions toward the variables in determining where to place a greater emphasis. The third is in methodological contribution-the instruments were tested for validity and reliability and will be used in future studies to test the same variables in other studies. Suggested areas of further study to understand further what caused Simpson paradox which was observed in joint model.
